About the Role
We’re seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for 2026 Spring/Summer to support our design and manufacturing teams in building and testing robotic systems. This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates in engineering who want a fast-paced role with engineering design ownership and responsibilities. You will determine system and component requirements and source the components to build the systems you have designed/specified. You will gain hands-on experience with hardware assembly, integration, and testing in a fast-paced startup environment. You'll work directly with experienced engineers and technicians and play a key role in the prototyping, documentation, and validation of robotic components/systems.
Job Responsibilities
· Electrical system design for an autonomous unloader robot
· Assemble and test industrial electro-mechanical systems
· Design and build test benches for equipment calibration and troubleshooting
· Create system tests for verification of design/manufacturing
· Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on production robots
· Participate in design feedback sessions and contribute to process improvements
Qualifications/Requirements
Required:
· Actively pursuing or recently completed a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
· CAD experience of complex parts & assemblies (SolidWorks good, AutoCAD preferred)
· Have designed and fabricated multi-disciplinary projects outside of class
· Wiring experience (robots, vehicles, or industrial/manufacturing preferred)
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills
· Strong Excel skills
· Ability to work at Contoro’s office in Austin, TX
Preferred:
· Exposure to basic programming (Python, C++) or ROS
· Previous internship or co-op in a design role and/or a strong role in a student project team
· Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
· Experience with network troubleshooting
