Position Summary
Be Well Health is launching Be Well AI, a platform that brings safe, accurate generative AI tools to our clinical research, cognitive health, and operational teams. We are seeking a Lead AI Engineer to design the system architecture, build and maintain our AI knowledge corpus, and deliver role specific AI assistants.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will set technical direction, write production code, and guide team members while collaborating closely with Be Well Health leadership on priorities and needs.
Key Responsibilities
AI Corpus Stewardship: Own end to end pipelines that ingest, validate, version, and continuously refresh company knowledge such as protocols, SOPs, study data, and policies, ensuring the corpus is free of misinformation and aligned with regulatory requirements.
System and Architecture Design: Define the overall AI stack including LLMs, vector databases, retrieval augmented generation, orchestration, monitoring, and evaluation. Drive decisions on build versus buy, scalability, and security.
Custom AI Agents: Build and deploy tailored Be Well Health AI assistants for specific roles. Monitor and refine these tools as roles evolve.
Implementation and Execution: Lead the full project lifecycle including requirements gathering, sprint planning, coding, testing, deployment, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
Quality and Governance: Implement guardrails, content filters, automated evaluations, and human in the loop review processes to uphold accuracy, privacy (HIPAA), and ethical AI principles.
Tooling and Automation: Develop internal tools for prompt management, data labeling, synthetic data generation, and model performance dashboards.
Cross Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Clinicians, Study Acquisition, Regulatory, Compliance, Recruitment, Clinical Operations, and IT Security teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing workflows and surface new opportunities.
Thought Leadership: Stay current with AI research and industry trends. Recommend and pilot emerging models, frameworks, and best practices.
Team Building and Mentorship: Assist with recruiting, mentoring, and leading a growing AI engineering team as demand scales.
