Overview of the Senior AI Engineer:

We are seeking a hands-on, forward-thinking Senior AI Engineer to join our Architecture team and take a lead role in driving AI adoption across the enterprise. This individual will play a key role in both enhancing internal operational efficiency and enabling future product innovation by applying AI/ML technologies to real-world business problems.

You’ll work closely with architects, product managers, and operational leaders to build and scale AI solutions, helping us leverage our growing automation and data platforms to transform how we operate and serve our clients. This is a hybrid position based out of our Cary, NC office location.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Senior AI Engineer:

• Lead the development and implementation of AI-driven solutions that streamline internal processes and power new product capabilities.
• Partner with the Architecture team to define and maintain AI technology standards, patterns, and reference implementations.
• Advance the capabilities of our AI automation workbench that transforms unstructured data into structured, usable formats.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify high-impact AI use cases and rapidly prototype solutions.
• Guide data science and engineering efforts across project teams; mentor junior AI talent. Ensure robust model lifecycle management, including training, validation, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Champion responsible AI practices around data privacy, transparency, and explainability.
• Contribute to the strategic roadmap of AI initiatives and ensure alignment with broader enterprise technology objectives. 

Skills and Experience of the Senior AI Engineer:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• 10+ years of experience with system/software architecture.
• Strong knowledge of ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), NLP techniques, and model operations (MLOps).
• Demonstrated ability to lead AI solution design from concept through implementation.
• Experience with unstructured data (e.g., PDFs, text, scanned documents) and document understanding models.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices and architecture principles.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with GenAI technologies (e.g., LLMs, embeddings, vector search).
• Familiarity with enterprise automation tools and RPA platforms.
• Prior experience working in FinTech, investor communications, or regulated industries.
